Simulated Account
A trading account that uses simulated (demo) capital rather than live market capital, commonly used in prop firm evaluations and funded accounts.
Detailed Explanation
Most prop firm accounts — both during evaluations and after funding — are simulated rather than live. The firm mirrors real market conditions (real spreads, slippage, and execution) but does not place actual trades in the live market. This model allows firms to scale rapidly and manage risk without exposing real capital to each individual trader. Traders receive real payouts based on the simulated account's performance. A few firms (like Darwinex Zero and some institutional prop firms) offer genuinely live-funded accounts.
